The city of Somerville, Massachusetts became what is believed to be the first U.S. city to recognize polyamorous relationships last Thursday, after the city council passed a new domestic partnership ordinance.
The ordinance was brought before the council as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, as a way to help those who are not married to their partners still visit their loved ones if they get sick and end up in the hospital.
