The Anton LeVay the Church of Satan wants you to forget

Dissident Daydreams

Anton LaVey was a lot of things, to alot of people; a leader and hero to his followers, a boogeyman to Bible thumping evangelicals, and a conman to those who are skeptical of his true intentions with satanism, but one thing you can’t say about LeVey is he was that he was a simple man. From an accomplished organist at several night clubs to the founder of the first organized satanic church in modern memory LaVey was never afraid to dive into the controversial and taboo. Yet when you look at what the actual church of satan website you get a watered down materialist who simply wanted people to “do what they want” while that’s is an aspect of LeVay the modern church of Satan doesn’t tell the full story, but why is that? The Church of Satan today isn’t the same as what LeVay started acting more as edgy atheists who appeal to democrat voters, feminists, and progressive hippy types. Not exactly the kind of people who would be attracted to esoteric fascism or Social Darwinism.

It makes sense for them to show this watered down version of Anton LaVey to the public, if their modern target audience learned that Anton LeVay wasn’t a politically correct liberal moralist who used satanism to preach for abortion and refugees the Church of Satan’s target liberal audience wouldn’t touch them with a fifty foot pole. But this leads to a very watered down version of Anton LeVay that is not at all represented by the current Church of Satan. So who exactly was Anton LaVey and what were his actual politics? In this article I hope to cast a new light on Anton LeVay one that will cast a spotlight on everything the Church of Satan wants you to forget.

“Brother Satan, I call forth this night all of your forces. Attain me and the elevation of the superior human animal, and the destruction of all those niggers, kikes, fags, wops, greasers, degenerates that are inferior and not as we are. We are superior”

Anton LaVey for “Speak of the Devil” (1993)

While this quote is clearly meant to be more or less sarcastic (LaVey would’ve loved shitposting) it’s an indicator that LaVey is not above politically correct language and will even laugh at the expense of what we would call the “protected social classes” that are colored people and homos which I’m sure the Church of Satan today would find horrifying as in their liberal theology (I use theology very literally) doing anything to potentially hurt the feelings of their precious sodomites and brown people is downright blasphemous. LaVey was not a politically correct man he wasn’t theory years ago and he’s not now, he wasn’t some prophet delivering our modern progressive views to a backwards and conservative people he was a man who was set out to destroy Christian moralism and the weakness that came with it. So if not a pusher of progressivism what was LaVey for? The answer is simple, Nietzsche.

“Definition of good and evil: Good is what you like. Evil is what you don’t like.” Anton Lavey

“There is an old illusion it is called good and evil.” Fredrick Nietzsche

It is plain to see even from a brief observation of LaVey was a student of Nietzsche and it’s plain to see. Nietzsche predicted that Christian ethics were going to die and that it would take strong heroic men (Ubermensch) to restore society and reinstate higher ideals and value. LaVey in many ways was like Nietzsche’s idea of the men who would make value and ideals as he wrestled with a dying Christianity to create a new way of thinking, one based around strength and not petty Christian moralism. LaVey also included many parts of the book Might is Right a staple of both fascist theory as well as egoism in his Book of Satan. Might is Right by Ragnar Redbeard speaks of how scientifically the only true power in this world is might and that all moral codes are vassalizations of the strong, which is undoubtedly a concept heavily influenced (if not outright taken from) Nietzsche himself.

But LaVey isn’t the only man inspired by Nietzsche as his philosophy was a key component of National Socialist worldview with Adolf Hitler himself saying how he rid Germany of morals and conscience and turned the youth into those who should be feared. On top of this Hitler loathed Christianity with him saying how it was pitiful that Germany was shackled with such a pitiful religion and how he wished they had a faith like Japan’s where dying for the homeland were considered holy acts. If he did not have the historical baggage he does now Adolf Hitler would’ve been seen as a satanist at first glance. But Anton Levay’s connection to national socialism doesn’t end with Nietzsche as he was personal friends with James Madole the leader of one of the most infamous National Socialist parties in America, the National Renaissance Party.

The NRP was a unique force in the American fascist movement, one of the few at the time to cast off Christianity and correctly identifying itself as Jewish poison and instead embracing paganism, the occult, and yes satanism. Levay had frequent meeting with Madole in the party headquarters and Lacey’s bookshop as well having a close friendship with American Front member Boyd Rice so much so that LeVay even asked Rice to be the next leader of the church (which Rice rejected).

LaVey not only was chummy with fascism but eagerly adopted tenets of it one of them being Social Darwinism, a controversial ideology today due to it being feared by liberals because they’re terrified of the idea of humans having to have value and not being the same equal blobs. LeVay was quoted as saying that eugenics was humanities best hope for survival and seeing as LaVeyian satanism is a spin off of Nietzsche’s theory. LaVey was by all definitions a right wing (even far right) individual, someone who detested liberal moralism and left wing theories of “equality”, so why is it that satanism is squarely in the left wing of politics. The answer has less to do with the left wing, and doesn’t even have a lot to do with satanism as a concept it’s the right wing.

The right wing at the time (as well as today) was too moralist, feeble, and bound by the rope of Christianity to embrace the new Nietzschian religion and right wingers themselves much like today were too busy thumping their bibles and groaning about how LaVey dressed and acted and not focusing on what he preached. But what has Christianity and waiting for the magical savior in the sky to save us done? Nothing besides make us lose time, and time, and time, again. The idea that you can make a religion that values submission, feebleness, and cowardice into a religion for warriors is absurd and shows how much Christianity ruins everything it touches turning warrior cultures into effeminate merchant nations that are bound to crack under its own fragile bones. Satanism and the brutal and thorough rejection of Christian slave tradition must be embraced by the modern right and a revival of warrior culture and anti pacifism.

“Why should I not hate my enemies? If I love them does that not make me at their mercy?”

Anton LaVey
