One of the saddest things about the International decline of the US is that it won’t end with Trump. Even if Trump and MAGA are thoroughly voted out in ’28, the rest of the world is already like: “Okay, so we’re never more that 4 years from the potential of the US picking another Trump, and it has now been proven that the US has no meaningful checks and balances, so it’s a fundamentally unstable state, let’s never trust them again”.
