Trump appears set on forcing the Palestinians out of Gaza under the fiction that the US will own it and the entire world can live there as some sort of resort. 🙄
Note to readers: If you’ve been reading my substack, you know that I have praised Trump when praise was due, and I have smacked him around hard when criticism was necessary. If you are still caught up in the glow from the last two weeks, leave this page now because you won’t like what you are about to read.
Some people have wondered how Trump managed to thread the needle and come back to power, given that there are forces out of public view who have great power to affect the order of things in this country. Yet, for an unknown reason, they seemed to step aside and clear a path for Trump to come back to power.
Well, I think we now know why Trump is back in the White House. Earlier tonight, the NY Post reported that Trump is planning to force all the Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip and into neighboring Arab countries:
President Trump proposed a US takeover of the Gaza Strip Tuesday night — shortly after suggesting moving “all” Palestinians living there to other countries.
“The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump, 78, said at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who praised the concept.
“We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings — level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”
Trump added that the roughly 2 million Gaza Strip residents would be relocated to neighboring countries in a transitional phase — and indicated they would not be granted the right of return afterward.
“Just can’t go back. If you go back, it’s going to end up the same way it has for 100 years,” the president said at the press conference.
Trump said he would deploy US troops to the territory “if it’s necessary” and that he imagined “the world’s people” occupying an “international unbelievable place” that would be regarded as “the Riviera of the Middle East,” with some Palestinians permitted to resettle there.
Yes, Trump is intent on the US taking over the Gaza Strip, but it is obvious that it will ultimately go to Israel. That will leave just the West Bank, and that area is already rife with settlers who have been slowly but surely pushing the Palestinians out. When all is said and done, Israel will control Gaza and the West Bank. The Palestinians will have been pushed off their land completely and will become a minority in various Arab countries. It remains to be seen who will take them.

Where you stand on all of this depends on one question: Whose land is it? The brown-skinned Palestinians? Or the fair-skinned, mostly Ashkenazi Jews from Europe? Most people are on one side or the other, and the polarization between the two sides has never been worse than it is now. Trump has obviously sided with the Israelis, and I don’t doubt that this plan was cooked up long before the election, and it is the price Trump agreed to pay in return for being allowed to take office again.
Trump has threatened to use the US Military to take Gaza, and I don’t doubt that will try to do so if necessary. But how will Hamas react? Unless Trump is able to buy them off somehow (he loves his deals, but this one seems impossible to me) and get them to agree to leave Gaza without a fight. If Hamas refuses, and Trump sends in the US Military, then many US soldiers will be killed in the fight with Hamas.
For those of you who think that it will be easy for the US to take Gaza, consider the fact that the Israelis were not able to do so even after bombing it to smithereens. The US military is also a mess right now, and far from what it has been in the past. What will Trump do? Drop more bombs on Gaza? Kill more civilians? The actions of Israel have turned most of the world against it, and the US runs the risk of becoming the world’s super-villain if it goes into Gaza and slaughters the Palestinians on a level even greater than what Israel has already done.
All of this is one of the reasons why I have been saying for a long time that White males should NOT sign up for the US military and should leave if they are already in it. Yes, I voted for Trump, but that does not mean I trust him on everything, nor should you. Let me be even more blunt here: Donald Trump doesn’t give a shit if you live or die, White males. If you are in the US military and he needs to send you to Gaza, he will not hesitate to do so. So GTFO if you are in the US Military now.
And what does Trump have to offer the Palestinians? Egypt and Jordan have made it clear already that they don’t want the Palestinians. So who will take them? Where is this “beautiful country” that the Palestinians will live in? Or will he try to split them up and dump them here and there? And what if they all refuse to leave? What will Trump do then? Is he going to make some sort of cash offer to Hamas? Or just bomb the Palestinians until they are all dead? 🙄
Unless Trump has some super-secret boondoggle he can offer the Palestinians, I do not see his proposal going anywhere. And if he is stupid enough to send the US Military into Gaza, then it will be a bloodbath that is going to shock the hell out of the American people. They did not vote for him to fight a war with Hamas so Israel could take over Gaza. Part of the reason he was elected was to stop the warmongers that were in office during Biden’s administration.
Also, take note of Trump’s utterly insensitive language about building the “Riviera of the Middle East.” It is utterly cold and devoid of any sympathy for the Palestinians whatsoever. It is as if they are not people who are on their own land. He appears to see that land in real estate developer terms, while completely missing the human tragedy that has happened there.
I do not know if Trump is truly going to try to force the Palestinians out of Gaza. But if he does, I think it will be the biggest mistake his administration is likely to make and I think it will blow up in his face in the worst way. I also wonder how Iran, Russia, China, and other countries will react if the Palestinians are forced out of the Gaza Strip by the US Military. I wonder also how the American public will react once dead US soldiers start coming back in body bags from Gaza.
I will end this article by repeating my admonition to White males: GET THE HELL OUT OF THE US MILITARY NOW IF YOU ARE IN, AND DON’T SIGN UP IF YOU AREN’T IN ALREADY!
UPDATE: I was tired after driving tonight and it slipped my mind to mention the oil and gas wealth of Gaza and the West Bank. Now you know another reason Trump is interested in taking over Gaza. It would make taking those resources easier for Israel, with the US likely getting a chunk of the cash:
Gaza Oil and Gas
Gaza’s offshore gas reserves have been a contentious issue between Israel and the Palestinian territories. The Gaza Marine gas field, discovered in 2000, is estimated to contain over 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. However, the development of these reserves has been hindered by political disputes and conflict with Israel.
The Gaza Marine field, located approximately 35 km offshore from Gaza, was initially awarded to British Gas (BG) and CC Oil & Gas in 1999. Exploration wells confirmed commercially viable gas reserves, but due to ongoing political tensions, the field has remained undeveloped. In 2023, Israel gave preliminary approval for the development of the Gaza Marine gas field, with the involvement of the Palestinian Authority and Egypt. However, as of early 2024, the project remains stalled.
Israel’s granting of licenses for gas exploration off Gaza’s coast has been criticized for violating international law and being seen as a de facto annexation of Palestinian maritime areas. Palestinian human rights groups have contested these licenses, arguing that they infringe upon the right of Palestinians to self-determination and the management of their natural resources.
Efforts to develop Gaza’s gas reserves have been seen as a potential economic boon for the Palestinian economy, with estimates suggesting that revenues could reach $700-800 million annually. However, the ongoing conflict and political complexities have made it difficult to move forward with these plans.
In addition to the Gaza Marine field, there are other natural gas resources in the Eastern Mediterranean region, including the Meged oil and gas field in the occupied West Bank. These resources have added complexity to the Israel-Palestine conflict, with some arguing that Israel’s actions are aimed at seizing control of these valuable resources.
UPDATE 2: Well, you knew that the worm Kushner was going to be involved in this:
Less than a year ago, in March 2024, Trump’s son-in-law Kushner speculated over the value of Gaza’s “waterfront property.”
“Gaza’s waterfront property could be very valuable,” he said at the time. “It’s a little bit of an unfortunate situation there, but from Israel’s perspective I would do my best to move the people out and then clean it up.”
An unnamed source told Puck News senior political correspondent Tara Palmeri that “Trump’s idea for the US to take over Gaza was first conceived by Jared Kushner.”
Kushner was reportedly involved in writing Trump’s remarks for the press conference on Tuesday.
