Steinhoff: Reserve Bank manager allegedly approved billions

The SA Reserve Bank has laid a corruption complaint against a former divisional head at its Financial Surveillance department, Raymond Paola, who was between 2012 and 2017 tasked with overseeing Steinhoff’s large cross-border transactions. His co-accused is said to be former CEO Markus Jooste and company risk manager Chris Grové.

🇭🇹💵 Haiti is to receive more funding from the US, as the country’s descent into outright bedlam continued. With $300-million pledged in total to a multinational security force, with a timeline unclear, the US proposal is unlikely to be meaningful just this minute, given the immediacy of Haiti’s problems.
🇳🇿🛬 New Zealand’s transport authority is seizing the black boxes from LATAM’s Boeing 787, after more than 50 people were injured in a rapid descent mid-flight Sydney-Auckland. Chilean authorities had confirmed they had opened a probe into the flight.
