Multiple Fronts of Resistance Push Imperial Forces to the Brink

January 7, 2024 From Abolition Media

As the war in Gaza continues unabated, the regional resistance has taken notably more aggressive actions and stances towards the US and its imperial attack dog, the Zionist regime. The Lebanese, Iraqi, and Yemeni fronts have all expanded their operations and demands as the US is being pushed to the edge of its imperial hegemonic power.

Lebanese Resistance

In a swift and calculated response to the assassination of Palestinian Resistance leader Sheikh Saleh al-Arouri, Hezbollah targeted one of the occupation forces’ Air Traffic Control Bases in northern occupied Palestine. The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon launched a barrage of 62 rockets, aimed at the base located atop Mount Jarmaq (“Meron”), the highest peak in the ’48 occupied Palestine.

The attack, which occurred on Saturday morning, specifically targeted the sole center for the management and monitoring of air traffic in the northern occupied territories, known as the “Meron” Air Traffic Control Base. Hezbollah stated that this facility has no equivalent alternative, leaving the occupation with a significant gap in their operations.

Zionist media outlets pointed out on Sunday that the army’s “Meron” air control and surveillance airbase was targeted by Hezbollah with an advanced version of Kornet missiles with an effective range of up to 10 km.

The media outlets warned that the Iron Dome, the entity’s state-of-the-art anti-air system, is not designed to deal with this type of threat, cautioning that the occupation army must find solutions to address this issue.

Situated atop Mount Jarmaq, the highest peak in occupied Palestine, the base is around 8km from the Lebanese borders.

It is the sole facility responsible for managing and controlling air operations toward Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and Cyprus, as well as the northern part of the eastern Mediterranean Sea basin. Moreover, the base acts as a central hub for electronic warfare interference in the mentioned directions, staffed by a significant number of elite officers and soldiers.

Since day one of the border escalations, Hezbollah has been focusing its operations on targeting Zionist military spying and intelligence hardware in occupation bases stretching along the entire Lebanese-Palestinian border.

However, the “Meron” operation, given the base’s critical role, has been the most significant so far.

Hezbollah has been pursuing a goal since the beginning of the war, which is to “blind ‘Israeli’ systems in the northern region,” according to Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

The organization released this statement in regards to the action:

Firstly, Meron Air Surveillance Base is located on the summit of Mount Jarmaq in northern occupied Palestine. It is the highest peak in occupied Palestine and serves as the sole center for administration, monitoring, and air control in the northern usurping entity. There is no main alternative to Meron Base, which is one of the two main bases in the entire usurping entity. The other base is Mitzpe Ramon in the south.

Secondly, Islamic Resistance fighters carried out an initial response at 08:10 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, targeting the Meron Air Surveillance Base with 62 rockets of various types. This was in response to the assassination of the great leader Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri and his martyr brothers in the southern suburb of Beirut.

in regards to accomplishments made by the resistance on the Lebanese front against the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon and the purpose for opening it all together, Nasrallah stressed that the resistance and Lebanon as a whole are today “before a historic opportunity to liberate every inch of our land and establish a balance of power that prevents the enemy from once again violating the sovereignty of our country.”

Today, he added, Hezbollah is fighting on the front within certain parameters that take into account Lebanon’s situation and interests, which is causing the resistance movement to pay the price with the blood of its resistance fighters.

However, Sayyed Nasrallah underlined, in the case of a full-scale war being declared on Lebanon, “We will have no limits, no restrictions, no rules of engagement, or boundaries.”

“Whoever might think about going to war with us will regret such a decision. War with us will be tremendously costly,” he stressed. “If war is declared against us, national interest will require us to fight the war until the very end,” Sayyed Nasrallah concluded.
