The US is no different than any other Western Imperialist conqueror in the past. The British Empire did something similar in the years leading up to the occupation of Penang Island in the Malay Peninsula in 1786 – the deceitful suave sweet talk. What followed was a slow systematic domination, exploit, theft and plunder of the land that lasted almost 200 years. A lot of the global south have seen it all for centuries before and Gaza simply refreshed the TRAUMA in a very big way. America should not act so surprised that the Global South is against them lest they don’t believe in learning history.
