I live in a red state but in an overwhelmingly blue city. It’s hilarious because everyone who lives here are all the same. They all have pride and BLM flags in their yards. But, they have to make sure that they have the latest, greatest pride flag in their yards. Four years ago, they all had the old school pride flag. You know? The standard rainbow one? Nowadays, they have different variations of that combo flag thing pictured in this article. And of course, several of them recently added the Ukraine flag to their collection. Remember that old saying “Keeping up with the Joneses?” Well, it’s obvious that this is the new version of that. To be frank, I don’t know how they don’t see it and I don’t know how they don’t feel like a bunch of trendy dorks! It’s virtue signaling to the nth degree!
I have been a supporter of LGBT rights for decades but I don’t need a bunch of goddamn flags in my fucking yard to prove it! However, my version of support isn’t good enough for the modern left because I’m against mutilating children and I believe in this thing called biology that everyone used to believe in. Apparently, this makes me a fascist! Gee! I can’t wait to go mud bogging in hell with Hitler and Mussolini someday! Shit bro! Maybe Darth Vader will join us? He’s basically a space fascist! Anyway, let me get real now. There’s an even darker side to life in a blue city. Back in 2020, a couple of antifa types beat up an old man for wearing a MAGA hat and a blue lives matter facemask. Also, a high school student was beat up for wearing a MAGA hat. They even called him a retard, which I thought was a no no these days. I’ve been very clear that I don’t like Donald Trump but my God, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I can’t imagine physically assaulting someone over an article of clothing! Especially, an elderly man or a kid! If that was my grandpa or my child, I’d want to kill them! I’ll never forgot during the lockdowns when the right-wingers were out protesting while the left were counter protesting in an attempt to get them to go home. Sure enough, after George Floyd’s death, the lefties contradicted themselves and did their own protest instead if following orders to stay home.
It’s worth mentioning that they also flipped over a cop car and set it on fire and looted a 711. I’m not a fan of cops nor do I care about corporations like 711 but the fact that they resorted to that type of behavior is beyond me. What did any of it have to do with George Floyd? I have been a victim of this childish behavior as well. Back in 2019, I was at Walmart, wearing a shirt that resembled the blue lives matter flag. I have never been involved in that movement and at the time period I ran with woke, leftist circles. I had bought the shirt long before blue lives matter even existed. Anyway, a man came up to me and said, “I hate your shirt!” Then he threatened to punch me. I played the adult role and smiled and walked away. I was also accused of racism for doing an impression of Mr. T. I said, “I pity the fool,” and a Polynesian coworker of mine said in a snooty voice, “Well, I’m a little brown.” I was baffled. I was literally doing an impression of an 80’s TV icon that I grew up watching as a kid. She acted is if I did the Nazi salute and shouted “Sieg Heil” or something. Overall, life isn’t completely horrible in a blue city. There’s a huge art scene and I’m a mega artsy fartsy type. I love music, literature, film, etc. There’s also co-ops and vegan restaurants which I’m all about even though I’m not vegan, I just like the food. Another advantage of a blue city in a red state is the loose gun laws because I am a proud gun owner. Thus, I leave you with a quote from the late, great Leo Tolstoy. “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
