Do we really have to say this? Psychiatrists are under NO obligation to report when someone is under care for mental illness UNLESS there is a direct threat against identifiable victim(s). If we make psychiatrists report the suspicion of dangerousness, people who need to go to therapy wouldn’t, and therapists themselves would be reluctant to take clients with anger control issues to avoid culpability. It would have a chilling effect on mental health care across the board.
