The present ruling class unity/totalitarian humanist/neocon-neoliberal-progressive coalition appears to be successful so far in terms of maintaining the explicit or implicit support of a popular majority and establishing an aura of legitimacy.  This provides them with a significant level of cover under which to continue purging opponents, beginning with Trumpists specifically and conservatives generally but branching out into attacks on all forms of dissent: left, right, and center.  Given the upheavals of the past year and a half, most people seem ready for some peace and quiet.

On today’s What America’s Thinking, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds 59 percent of voters approve of President Biden’s handling of the economy while 60 percent of voters approve of the job Joe Biden is doing in the White House overall.

This survey was conducted online within the United States from June 29 – 30 among 950 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error of this poll is plus or minus 3.18 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age, gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, education, ideology and area type where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.
