Biden won’t rule out gun control via executive order

By Laura Widener, American Military News

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Tuesday that President Joe Biden has not ruled out using executive orders for gun control.

When asked if Biden still intended to use executive action on gun control – a vow made during his campaign – Psaki responded, “The president has a range of actions at his disposal … he hasn’t ruled out either of those options.”

Biden’s campaign website boasted about his record working with legislative and executive actions during the Obama administration, pointing to “two dozen actions” the administration took after Biden was tasked with heading gun control measures.

  1. Biden is foolish. He doesn’t understand that executive orders aren’t supposed to be substitutes for Congress-passed laws. And the ill-advised “assault weapon ban” from 1994 occurred with a Democrat majority in the House, plus about a 55-vote majority in the Senate. Not even enough to beat a filibuster, so I think the only way they managed it was a “reconciliation” legislation.
Further, between 1994 and today, the Supreme Court ruled on the Heller (2008) and McDonald (2010) cases, both of which confirmed peoples’ right to own weapons.
