In some ways I suppose we could say that US politics is very loosely analogous to Iraqi politics. The Red Tribe is kind of like the Sunni, who were historically dominant but are now a minority. The Blue Tribe are like the Shia, who were historically out of power but are now the majority and allied with the Communists, like the Blue Tribe is increasingly aligned with the neo-Jacobin Left. And the various groups that comprise the underclass and at least some of the wider spectrum of 46 percenters are like the Kurds, Yazidis, Bidoon, etc., i.e. occupied peoples despised by the entire spectrum of the power elite.
