Protests and Riots, Red Blue

As I have pointed out in some recent posts, we are not dealing with Socratic thinkers here. The Red/Blue tribal civil war is the modern American version of the Protestant/Catholic conflict in Europe during the early modern period or the Sunni/Shia conflict in the Middle East today. Essentially, the Red/Blue divide is a religious conflict with the Red Tribe representing the traditional American civil religion (see Robert Bellah or my essay on deism), sometimes synthesized with low-rent megachurch Protestantism, and the Blue Tribe representing the Enlightenment religion of scientism and “progress,” sometimes synthesized with New England Unitarian influences, with the addition of the post-civil rights “racial redemption” narrative ( a kind of secularized Christianity).
