Paul Gottfried recently published a new anthology through Cornell to which I have a contribution. A collection of high-brow conservative scholars (plus crazy anarchist me) explains why the FOX News-type conservatives and neocons are a bunch of scam artists.
If these FOX News reactionaries were as “anti-establishment” or “anti-big government” as they pretend they would be creating “autonomous zones” of their own. What a shame they’re really just mouthpieces for the right-wing of the ruling class.
If only it were true. Roadblocks, checkpoints, barricades, armed vigilantes: Anyone with a functioning brain knows this is unacceptable.
Indeed it is. But not in the way that Carlson means. This is hilarious. During the heydey of the militia movement of the 1990s, there were “freemen” and “sovereign citizen” groups that did stuff like this.
Todd Lewis is joined by Keith Preston and Derrick Jensen to discuss the nature of authority, justified vs. unjustified authority; and how tyrannical systems are maintained.
The most interesting aspect of the insurrection has been the way that the actual Deep State and MIC leadership has told Trump to fuck off over the idea of using US troops to suppress the uprising. This confirms my longstanding argument that the formal political government, including the […]
Obviously, I’m getting old because I didn’t recognize a single one of these celebrities.
I have the unique perspective of favoring the autonomous zone in Seattle AND the Bundys’ standoff AND the Antifa threats against ICE. I like Krystal’s comment that “if you’re against the police state, be against the police state.” Krystal and Saagar discuss the bizarre response from Gov. Jay […]
Krystal’s “capitalists are going to capitalist” line is hilarious. Krystal and Saagar discuss Starbuck’s ban on Black Lives Matter merchandise for their employees, Apple CEO Tim Cook announces $100M commitment for racial equality and justice.
It’s interesting that the four lead articles on ATS right now are from an anarcho-capitalist, a conservative libertarian, a left-communist, and a social anarchist. There’s another writer with a piece on the way arguing against the insurrection from a Hobbes-Burkean-Schmittian perspective.
If Native American tribes were states they would be the top 5 states in terms of COVID-19 infection rate.
By Stratton J. Davis Looking at the daily news these past couples of weeks one may have the pessimistic opinion that what was left of liberty will soon be gone. Even before the recent riots, which has President Trump and his GOP goons threatening the US people with […]
By Alan Bickley Ludwig von Mises Centre According to The Daily Mail, Madeline Odent is the Curator of the Royston Museum in Hertfordshire. This museum is funded by Royston Council. In the past few days, Mrs Odent has taken to Twitter, giving expert advice on how to use […]
This George Floyd/Derek Chauvin thing is starting to sound like the Botham Jean/Amber Guyger situation where it seems like more than police malevolence/incompetence was involved. My guess is that the former co-worker of these two was paid a visit and told to keep their mouth shut.
Kyle’s commentary in this is pretty good. Most of the “police reforms” Kyle is discussing are a good idea, but the two big ones are ending overcriminalization and holding the police to the same standards as civilians. One point where I would agree with the NYPD police union […]
Western civilization doesn’t really exist anymore. It died during the two world wars. “The West” today is basically just the American Empire, and it’s not the America of Nathaniel Hawthorne or Mark Twain. It’s the America of McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, and Amazon. Western Europe is the most far gone, […]
Recent events were the equivalent of a large scale prison riot with inmates attacking the guards (kinda sorta) but with the prison administration and prison labor profiteers remaining unscathed.
Dr. Michael Datcher is the author of the Ferguson-area historical novel AMERICUS and the critically-acclaimed New York Times Bestseller RAISING FENCES as well as the author of ANIMATING BLACK AND BROWN LIBERATION. http://michaeldatcher.com/
This isn’t a bad discussion of the financial system but the solutions are predictably milquetoast. Anti-banksters need to rediscover Proudhon. Ellen Brown is an attorney, chair of the Public Banking Institute, and author of thirteen books including Web of Debt and Banking on the People: Democratizing Money in […]
The right-wing uses BLM, Antifa, and an-coms as all-purposes bogeymen in the same way the left-wing uses white nationalists and Russians for the same purpose. Probably the most radical thing that has come out of the uprising so far has been the actual burning of police precincts and […]
They will be if the state decides they are an actual threat. For the CHAZ idea to develop into an actual revolutionary situation, it would have to spread very rapidly and come to dominate significant bodies of geographical territory in North America, with significant numbers of sympathetic allies […]
And the right-wing wants to declare Antifa a terrorist group. Fortunately, under actual US law, only foreign organizations can be declared terrorist groups. Otherwise, Black Lives Matter or the National Rifle Association could also be declared terrorist groups. The KKK is about as relevant to contemporary politics as […]
Attacking police and/or military memorials is another tactically bad idea. The US regime is never going to be defeated through either voting for do-gooders or in a Third World-like armed struggle by radical insurgents, left or right, except perhaps on a peripheral level. The only possible path to […]
For those who don’t get the joke, making images of the Prophet is considered sacrilege in Islam, kind of like the Jewish prohibition on “graven images.”
Neo-communism has gained in popularity in recent years, which I find to be a very negative development, mostly because, unlike neo-nazism and neo-fascism, it doesn’t receive the universal condemnation of civil society, opinion leaders, and the new clerisy (except for the FOX News blowhards that use it as […]
My take on this would be that while I don’t agree with its corporatist and often crony-capitalist economic model, NASCAR is a voluntary organization and can set any standards for participation they wish. They are legitimate is banning the Confederate flag so as not to offend their black […]
To be fair, the people doing this seem to be outside the Anglosphere and don’t understand the cultural significance of this in the Atlanticist world. By Carly Stern Daily Mail
By Troy Southgate I see that sections of the American Right are now accusing Bogeyman Soros of helping to bring about a ‘colour revolution’ on home soil. How convenient. That’s how it works, you see. The Left gets taken in by the lies that have been generated by […]
By Evan Bush Seattle Times Welcome to the CHAZ, the newly named Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, where most everything was free Tuesday.
From someone who is there on the ground: This is what’s actually happening in Seattle right now; it’s nothing like much media and conspiracies and 45 are saying: Wanna know what is happening right now in Seattle? There are livestreams of the 3pm general assembly that are worth […]
Sean, why aren’t you encouraging the anti-lockdown protestors to join forces with the TAZs? Are you saying that you are not really against “big government” and that you’re really just a neocon mouthpiece? The sheer incompetence and cowardice of the liberal politicians running the states and cities across […]
Carlson has a predictably “reactionary” take on Seattle, but this is still funny as hell, particularly the part about borders. I’d like to see people of all ideologies doing this, i.e. creating their own TAZs. Say hello to the latest addition to the global family of nations: the […]
The opening segment of this where Jimmy quotes from Hedges’ recent article is good. Hedges characterizes the present US regime as “mafia state,” which I would argue is true of all or at least nearly all states. Glad to see that Hedges warns against the possibility of sectarian […]
Having followed these kinds of controversies for decades, I’d say conservatives are often pretty good at opposing excesses by Democrats, liberals, and leftists (some of the time), while the Left is pretty good at opposed excesses by Republicans (some of the time). It all depends on the context […]
I never thought “COPS” portrayed police in a very favorable light. Mostly, it seemed to portray cops as ignoramuses and bullies. Maybe that was just my perception. The commentary in this is pretty good.
Perfect commentary from Greenwald. Co-Founding Editor of The Intercept Glenn Greenwald blasts the Dem establishment for seeking the bipartisan support of former president George W. Bush for Joe Biden.
If I were a political comedy writer, I couldn’t make up stuff any better than this. I would indeed agree that this would make for the ideal neocon/neoliberal ruling class unity regime. It is clear that ruling class elements, whatever their differences, realize dissent is growing from all […]
I totally disagree with Laura here, but not for the usual reasons. So far I have actually seen very little “canceling America” going on in the present uprising. Unlike Berkeley or Charlottesville, which were low-grade sports riots carried out by rookie-league middle-class gangs, the present uprising is a […]
“The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves.” -Lenin (attributed) As a Machiavellian, I’ve got to hand it to Amazon on this one. This is slick. Working every angle. If only our insurgents were so conniving. By Gin Armstrong and Derek Seidman Eyes on […]
Thank goodness Donald Trump is President, a figure that is widely hated, disliked, or disdained by all but a relatively small number of hard-core supporters. He’s an easy figure to hate, especially for the Left, and symbolizes ruling class excess. It would suck if during the present moment […]
There are three basic tasks in front of the insurgents: Overthrowing the system, prevention of the erection of a new tyranny, and preventing inter-tribal warfare. This is how it’s done. We need tens of thousands of Seattles to become thousands of Cherans, followed by a Romania 1989 situation, […]
So how do six blocks become 600 blocks and then 600 cities? That is the question. By Rachel Floyd Daily Mail Around 300 protesters marched inside the lobby at around 9p.m. Tuesday, carrying Black Lives Matter banners and chanting ‘Durkan must go!’ The group was led by Seattle […]
Two, three, many Seattles. By Al Janavel Q13FOX SEATTLE – Protesters took over streets in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood now that Seattle Police has abandoned its East Precinct.
Kshama Sawant is a Trotskyist, but I have no problem with her leading the “revolution” in Seattle. As far I’m concerned, Seattle can be a commie city-state if that’s what people there want to do, just like Portland or Eugene can be an Antifa city-state. And Tyler, Texas […]
The regimes in the former Soviet Union and its Eastern European satellites were toppled only when large numbers of rank and file military and police turned on their backs on the state. That is what has to happen in the US as well for the revolution to be […]
It does not matter one iota what George Floyd’s criminal record is. Terms like “guilt,” “innocence,” “crime,” “law,” “justice,” etc. are System terms, not ours. One of the things we need to take from them is a monopoly on the definition of these terms. The fight against the […]
This kind of stuff may be a psychological victory for some people, but at the cost of alienating rural southern whites and Italian-Americans, many of whom have had plenty of run-ins with cops or the state. Think strategically, folks. Pushing inter-tribal warfare is a bad idea. If people […]
