Curtis Yarvin has said – provocatively – that the EU is European in exactly the same sense that the Warsaw Pact was Polish. His point is that the whole “European Integration” project was America led, America funded, and above all, America shepherded, from the very start. Jean Monnet was injected into European politics by the USA, for instance, when they put him in charge of administering Marshall Aid to France. It’s one reason De Gaulle loathed Monnet. Yarvin claims that the USA has acted to keep European countries in line with the Brussels program – mainly by closing down just about every alternative option for them. He believes the USA has actually been the biggest centripetal force in the EU. If the USA truly returns to a pre-1941 policy of “hey, European countries, do whatever you want on your side of the Atlantic, because it’s none of our business”, it would actually unleash a lot of centrifugal forces in Europe. Germany could consider having more friendly relations with Russia, for instance; something Poland might not like.
