Disney will actually save money here. Their tax status allowed them to pay fewer taxes but they covered all the roads, police, fire, etc infrastructure in their area which cost more than just paying general taxes but let them keep the area around the parks at a standard far higher than most of Florida. Now all of that area is going to be maintained by the state and thus the taxpayers. Sure Disney will be paying more state taxes but less cost overall which is only going to hurt them in terms of red tape on expansions and the area around them will likely decline. Meanwhile, taxpayers themselves will be picking up the bill for infrastructure.
I hardly believe the PR statements put out by Disney about the locals paying more is true. But hey, feel free to believe everything the corporations say. You spent 2 years doing it with Covid, no reason to stop now!
