LGBTTIQQ2SA: Seriously

LGBTTIQQ2SA apparently stands for:
“a broad array of identities such as, but not limited to, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, two-spirited, and allies”

And is being used by organizers of a Canadian event.  I offer no comment other than when a BBC corespondent on their own website feels able to say this:

“One thing, however, seems certain. LGBTQQI will continue to be added to until the only person not represented in the list will be a straight, monogamous man.”

Well maybe PC really has gone over the absurdity event horizon; we’re all David Duke now.

    Seriously, I’ve been a staunch political libertarian for all of my adult life, and I would defend the political and legal right to do most of this stuff just like I would defend the right to smoke pot, snort cocaine, visit gambling casinos, own a gun, join a weird cult, acquire tattoos and body piercings, listen to satanic rock and gangsta rap, etc. If I had been in New York City in 1969, I would have been right out there with them during Stonewall.

    Where I disagree is when proponents of this kind of stuff demand special recognition for their “issues” and special protection or favors from the state. Imagine if we had drug user rights groups out there crying “bigotry” every time some celebrity or public figure suggested doing drugs is not a good idea, and demanding that the government subsidize opium dens and crack houses, or that employers provide an onsite shooting gallery for junkies or finance the dope habit of their employees, or arresting clerics for voicing religious opposition to drug use. That’s precisely what this “LGBT” thing has become. Any recognizable libertarian or even liberal agenda associated with all that has long faded from the scene. Instead, the LGBT crowd has now invented their own version of fascism.
