MK’s incendiary manifesto manifests grinding contempt for SA’s democracy and Constitution

The manifesto of former president Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto Wesizwe party is probably the most radical assemblage of promises of any party likely to win a significant share of the vote in the upcoming general election.

🍊🇺🇸 Prosecutors during Donald Trump’s first day of his hush money trial said that he broke the law, corrupting the 2016 election. Trump’s lawyer responded, claiming, “There’s nothing wrong with trying to influence an election.”
🇺🇸🇨🇳 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a human rights report that China was continuing its acts of genocide against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in its western Xinjiang province. Blinken issued the report ahead of his trip to China this week. It totally won’t make things awkward at all…
🇪🇺📵 The EU is threatening to stop TikTok Lite’s reward programme almost immediately. There remained significant concerns about issues around addictive effects on children, which the European Commission believed had not been addressed by the video streaming giant.
🇮🇱🐂 An external probe has established that Israel has yet to offer any evidence that UNRWA employees are linked to Hamas. Israeli claims have the organisation staffed with up to 10% Hamas and Islamic Jihad members.

🏆 South Africa had four nominees at the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards but came away empty-handed. It was a good night for Spain as their women’s soccer team took the Laureus World Team award from the Springboks. Novak Djokovic was named Laureus World Sportsman of the year for a fifth time.

Inter Milan won their 20th Serie A title on Monday after a 2-1 win at AC Milan gave Simone Inzaghi’s side an unassailable lead in the standings.

💉 The World Anti-Doping Agency was in full damage-control mode on Monday, firing back at criticism over its handling of 23 positive tests from Chinese swimmers that the head of the United States Anti-Doping Agency called a potential cover-up.
