Communists outside America and Europe are known to be very different from Western leftists. They are comparatively conservative, pragmatic, and deeply patriotic – whereas Western leftists are liberal, ideologically fanatical and self-hating. The question is: Can Marxism-Leninism be made compatible with the Soros Left? What are the origins of the ‘progressive left,’ contemporary Baizuo ‘Western leftism’ and what is its historical relation to real existing Communist states?
