If Western countries really wanted to scare war criminals around the World, perhaps even enough to make them stop their crimes, we could simply prosecute our own war criminals. Nothing would scare them more, than seeing such powerful proof that we really, truly mean business about international law and war crimes.

I don’t think western politicians really understand how dangerous it is for Israel to continue its policies in Palestine. The effects of the Arab uprisings have shaken our region to its core and I’m not referring to the terrorism, wars, and security threats. I’m talking about the level of awareness and anger directed against our dictators and their western patrons. The collapse of the economies and the mass looting by western companies and their crooked friends in power are really driving the people nuts. What might appear as “stability” in Egypt for example is exactly the opposite of it. The regime which started in 1952 and derived its main legitimacy from the notion of “protecting our people” and “liberating Palestine” is collapsing slowly in plain sight. Worse is the growing sentiment among the population that “only a tank can fight a tank”.

The Arab uprisings of 2011 would be a picnic compared to what is about to become. The Islamists have lost a lot of their credibility here and they are effectively uprooted from public life. However, the nationalist, liberal, secularist, and leftist factions are re-shifting their positions regarding their relations with the western hemisphere. All identity politics BS have been relegated and the talking points are similar to the anti-colonial sentiment in the first half of the 20th century. All these puppets and all western military support don’t stand a chance in the face of this anger. The middle east will be more fragile and frankly, I don’t think Israel can contain the fallout even after the normalization wave with Arab states. It’s getting more cynical really and the shifting focus of the US to South Asia and its obvious decline as a superpower would create a very gruesome power vacuum here. It’s in the interest of literally everyone to solve the Palestinian conflict or it’d be a disaster for Israel before it’d be for the wider region.
