Contrary to what most leftists believe, the state is the most pernicious of all ruling class institutions. Noam Chomsky’s “I’d like to see the power of the federal government increased” in order to rein in the power of business is foolish and misguided, although unfortunately many if not most anarchists seem to have adopted this viewpoint. The problem with business and the media is not that it is not regulated heavily enough by the state but that these are too close to the state.
