I view “property rights” the same way that the Left views race, gender, sexuality, etc. i.e. as a social construct that is relative to time, place, and the particular cultural framework that is involved, like table manners, marital customs, sexual morals, religious rituals, styles of dress or music, etc. As an anarchist, my view is that minus the state there would be no uniform definition of property rights. There would only be localized agreements by localized groups, and perhaps even multiple systems of property existing in roughly the same general location. I have the same disagreement with a lot of anarcho-capitalists who insist that everyone must be a Lockean proprietarian that I have with a lot of leftist-anarchists who insist that everyone must be a cultural leftist. If only one property system or cultural framework is allowed, but there is no state, who is going to enforce these requirements?
