Bertrand Russell’s classic from 1938 still holds up pretty well in 2020. Russell’s analysis of the nature of power, combined with the insights of the neo-Machiavellians, James Burnham’s managerial revolution theory, and modern elite theorists, provides a very good explanation of how systems work.
