On the US desire to purchase Greenland

I think that some perspective is in order:
- The USA (or at least its allied in coordination with it) destroyed the Nordstream pipeline that connected Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea
- President Trump is adamant (at least publicly) about purchasing Greenland from Denmark
- In the meantime, the EU has been focused (albeit in a non-uniform way) on helping Ukraine defend itself against the Russian invasion of its soil
Ukraine is not a member of the EU. Denmark and Germany are. Europe’s focus seems to be helping non-member state Ukraine defend its territorial integrity, while its erstwhile ally seeks to upset the territorial integrity of EU member state Denmark.
I am not sure how sincere Trump’s desire to purchase Greenland from the Danes really is, as it could be a method to pressure Copenhagen and the rest of the continent to ramp up military spending and stop dealing with China, except where deemed “permissible” by Washington.
…but if we take him for his word, the question then becomes: who is the REAL threat to Europe?
