SA’s CEOs on why they are optimistic about the country

Sentiment around South Africa has improved since the coalition government was formed and Eskom’s blackouts faded. However, CEOs warn that positive sentiment should not breed complacency, and a lot must still be done to fix the economy.

🇮🇱🇺🇳 As Israeli forces continued an offensive on Hezbollah, the UN Security Council expressed its unanimous support for Secretary-General António Guterres, after he was barred by Israel from travelling to the country. Its statement diplomatically termed the snub “counterproductive”.
⚓🇺🇸 US dock and port workers we don’t know the difference either  have ended their three-day strike immediately on the East Coast and Gulf Coast. A resolution saw a 62% wage increase over six years. The strike’s ship has come in, financially anyway.
🇺🇸🇷🇺 The US announced that it has disrupted Russian attempts to hack government agencies. The Justice Department worked with Microsoft to shut down scores of internet domains used to phish individuals working for government agencies.
🇬🇧🇲🇺 The UK cedes sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius. In exchange for the sovereignty switch, the UK (and US) will retain control of Diego Garcia military airbase in the Indian Ocean for at least 99 years.
