Culture Wars/Current Controversies

Current Thing Round Up

THIS TIME IT’S LITERALLY NOT A WAR

Anti-Israel rally in Tehran
  • Iran launched drone and rocket attacks on Israeli targets last weekend, in retaliation (but not declaration of war) for Israel’s bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus two weeks prior, which also definitely was not a declaration of war. Israel has retaliated again with some not-warfare but Iran has apparently decided against further not-warfare because “lol their aim sucks what n00bs”, according to an Iranian press release.
  • The face of fascism in 2024.
  • Thousands of neo-Nazi far-right extremists gathered in various locations worldwide to celebrate Adolf Hitler’s birthday in a notorious dog-whistle event known as ‘4/20’. The eight blades of the cannabis leaf displayed by many Hitler fans refers to ‘88’, neo-Nazi numerical code for ‘Heil Hitler’.
    Charger for electric cars
  • This sucks and you know it.
  • EV sales slumped in March, with Tesla seeing its first annual drop since 2020. It’s almost like people are beginning to realise these things are just oversized golf carts with about as much investment value as buying a bottle of champagne and pouring it out on the floor (yeah, that’s a thing, apparently).
