Episode 169 with Ana Kasparian
We’re talking to Ana Kasparian (among many other things!) about why she isn’t going to vote for Joe Biden, not in the primary and not in the general election. She lays out an extremely compelling case pointing out Biden’s willingness to put all his power and legitimacy on the line for Israel’s genocide, why the Democratic Party can do better, and why Biden and Fetterman are the same side of the political coin. Watch below:
Ana, host of TYT, reminds us of the line that will get trotted out millions of times before November to hosts of disenchanted voters tired of Democrats’ empty promises and full coffers for war: “Democracy is on the line.” So why is the Democratic Party insisting on Biden? Back in 2020, when the pickings for candidates supporting Medicare for All were incredibly slim but not zero, and there was at least a plurality of options for center-left Democrats promising some small departure from the status quo, you could at least say it looked like the Dems were trying. Now they’re making no attempt to put forward a candidate who speaks to Americans’ most basic moral concerns.
The result will, if Uncommitted/blank ballot results in the primary tell us anything, be very low support for Biden — so isn’t it the party putting him forward that should take the blame for his loss, if he loses? His administration is, at the moment, giving unconditional aid to Israel as it carries out drone strikes on humanitarian convoys. As Netanyahu struggles to maintain power, Biden could lose it all just because he refuses to upset the Israel lobby (which, as Ana notes, gets a lot of support and funding from Evangelical Christians). Jill Biden herself thinks her husband should stop the war. Joe should listen.
