Will the Families Separated by Trump Ever Be Reunited?

This investigation, by Piper French, started with a simple question: Why haven’t all the families forcibly separated at the border been reunited? Some of the delay can be blamed on the Trump administration, which had no interest in helping solve the problem it created. As one activist told French, “We give you a luggage tag for your luggage. We separated parents from your kids and didn’t give them, like, a number.” But now, three years after Joe Biden took office, as many as 2,000 families remain apart. French’s account is an important, timely, and comprehensive look at why this injustice still hasn’t been corrected.
