This is an interesting discussion of how the Left and Right increasingly regard each other as existential threats.
My take on the Red Tribe/Blue Tribe cold war is pretty much the same as my take on the Sunni/Shia conflict in the Middle East, the Protestant/Catholic conflict in Ireland, or the Hindu/Muslim conflict in South Asia, i.e. as a matter of curiosity from a political science and social science perspective, but as a matter of personal indifference. I agree with Peter Marshall that both Edmund Burke and Thomas Paine were proto-anarchists, meaning that we need both the Left and Right and their critiques of each other.
