It makes sense. Older voters tend to be wealthier and more affluent, and as the Democrats’ economic rhetoric moves right their popularity with older people increases. Non-whites tend to be disproportionately poor, and as Trump/Republican economic rhetoric moves left they gain in popularity with minorities.
