Culture Wars/Current Controversies

Omar Mateen is an actor with an IMDb profile

This is getting weird.

Omar Mateen, the suspected gunman behind the Orlando Pulse Nightclub massacre, appears to have an entry in the Internet Movie Database. The entry gives him credit for appearances in two movies. In 2012 he appeared as himself in The Big Fix, a documentary that examines the April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico following the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. Footage of Mateen can be seen on Streamable. Mateen was apparently a security guard at an oil spill clean up site where he told film makers “no one gives a shit here. Everybody is just out to get paid. They’re hoping for more oil to come out and more people to complain so they’ll have jobs. Because once people get laid off it’s going to suck for them. They want more disaster to happen, because that’s where their money making is… it’s all about the money.”

The second movie Mateen is credited in is “Love City, Jalalabad, which IMDb describes as “A wild and funny documentary showing how the progressive youth of Afghanistan are rejecting the use of armed force and see film production as an alternative means of bringing peace and social change to their war-torn and occupied country.” Mateen is credited as playing “Bad Boy”.

If this is the same Omar Mateen then it only adds one more twist to the bizarre picture that is emerging of this man. His father is a talk show host who is running for President in Afghanistan, supports the Taliban and recently visited Washington DC in April when he met with members of Congress, the State Department and a hearing for Afghanistan Security.

Mateen was also known to the FBI, having twice been investigated for possible terrorist ties. The FBI is well known for setting up and foiling it’s own terrorist plots in what can only be described as public relation stunts to keep the public fearful and make the government look like it’s doing its job.

It has also been revealed that Mateen was a regular at Pulse night club, with one frequent customer saying “It was definitely him. He’d come in for years, and people knew him.”

Finally, police have reluctantly admitted that they may have shot some of the club patrons in the gun battle.

“Monday, Orlando Police Chief John Mina and other law enforcement officers offered new details about the shooting, including the possibility that some victims may have been killed by officers trying to save them.

“I will say this, that’s all part of the investigation,” Mina said. “But I will say when our SWAT officers, about eight or nine officers, opened fire, the backdrop was a concrete wall, and they were being fired upon.”

A law enforcement source close to the investigation who asked not to be named said a crowd of up to 300 people and the complex layout of the dance club may have resulted in some patrons being struck by gunfire from officers.”

In the wake of the massacre Senate Democrats and Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump have both voiced support for restrictions on gun sales to people on terror watch lists and on no fly lists. Perhaps the only thing politicians can ever agree on is expansion of the police state and state repression. Incidents such as terrorist attacks and mass shooting have a long history of being used as excuses for censorship, disarmament, mass surveillance, and expansion of the wars in the Middle East.

  1. Actually, no he was not an actor. He was in a documentary as himself and he wasn’t acting. You should take an English comprehension class.

    • He IS an actor, and appeared in at least five movies, including:

      1984 (2009)
      The Big Fix (2012)
      World Peace (2012)
      Love City, Jalalabad (2013)
      The Department (2015)

If you watch the clip, he is clearly acting, as there are at least four different camera angles, and this is obviously NOT a “hidden camera”, as the film suggests.

“Love City, Jalalabad” is a homosexual propaganda film.

      Wow what a kewinkydink.
