By Elliot Smith, CNBC With President Donald Trump refusing to commit to a peaceful transition of power in the event that he loses the election and clashes already unfolding in some states, political analysts are uniquely fearful as November approaches. Asked last week to commit to conceding should […]
By Paul Rosenberg, Salon Not even the most perceptive academic could have timed the publication of a 10-year research project this perfectly. LSU political scientist Nathan Kalmoe’s new book, “With Ballots and Bullets: Partisanship and Violence in the American Civil War” is being published in this overheated election […]
William S. Lind Traditional Right I expect President Trump to be re-elected, probably by a large margin, and the Republicans to hold the Senate and retake the House. Why? Because by this point the number of Americans who are angry is greater than the number who are scared. […]
The run-up to the coming US elections has seen an America more divided than ever before. As President Trump seeks re-election, national security observers in America watch the rise of the far-right with alarm and say politics, conspiracy and extreme right-wing ideology are all stirring the pot of […]

Tech companies have long argued that users should be able to judge content for themselves – but critics say social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter have a responsibility to make sure their platforms are not being used to incite violence or spread misinformation. Facebook says it […]

Today our own Communications Director Don Feder interviews Phillip Jauregui of the Judicial Action Group on Amy Coney Barrett filling the Supreme Court vacancy.
Fierce partisan divisions and social upheaval in the United States are feeding fears of large-scale political violence after the 2020 presidential election. Some describe the expected disorder as a form of domestic terrorism. Others are using the term “insurgency” to describe it, while some people are raising fears […]
By Lee Drutman, Five Thirty Eight To anyone following American politics, it’s not exactly news that Democrats and Republicans don’t like each other. Take what happened in the presidential debate last week. President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden did little to conceal their disdain of one […]

This is my assessment of the recent piece by Peter Gelderloos at Crimethinc, “Preparing for Electoral Unrest and a Right-Wing Power Grab.” The Crimethinc article is a great companion piece to the recent commentary by It’s Going Down (which I critique here) and Three-Way Fight (which I had […]
By Peter Gelderloos Crimethinc It is vital that anarchist strategy be situated: that we see strategy not as a chessboard from above, as in the authoritarian worldview, but as a perspective on the situation we inhabit, looking outward with our own eyes. Nonetheless, we should not make the […]
By Keith Preston Dissident Voice The issue of healthcare reform is one that is consistently identified by opinion polls as being among the most important to Americans. The United States continues to be the only fully industrialized nation that lacks a public healthcare system, a feature of modern […]

Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti react to recent polls showing Joe Biden’s approval among Americans is on the rise.
By Nicky Reid aka Comrade Hermit Exile in Happy Valley As surely as the moon wanes and the dead leaves tumble, once every fourth October, it becomes downright chilling to be an American. That’s because every four years, like clockwork, Americans prove every flamboyant third world boogeyman we’ve […]
At present, the rising forces of totalitarian humanism and digital capitalism have formed an alliance with the neocons and deep state in order to weaponize the left against the Trumpists. Once the Trumpists are defeated, the rising ruling class will purge the left and suppress the actual lumpenproletariat […]
What is happening nowadays is more like a situation analogous to the colonists engaging in a very low grade civil over which royal dynasty is the proper successor to the throne, with different royal houses having their own peasant constituencies that they incite against each other, and with […]
It’s Going Down throws in their two cents worth. Listen to their original podcast here. My assessment follows. By Keith Preston As for my assessment of the IGD podcast, I agree that if the election is close, what mainstream political scientists call a “constitutional crisis” is likely to […]
He’s Tricky Dicky, redux. Only less Tricky. By Keith Preston I don’t spend a lot of time on Trump-bashing because TrumpHate, Inc. is a Fortune 500 corporation at this point. But my assessment of Trump is and always has been that Trump is a neo-Nixonian, a liberal Republican […]
What we essentially have going on now is a low-intensity civil war between neo-Nixonians and totalitarian humanists with the actual lumpenproletariat being a wild card that sometimes acts as a third force. Oh boy, here we go. Inb4 “libtard” comments, I am more anti-government than you. 🙂
Actually, some of both. A social media commenter makes the following observation, although to be fair there have indeed been some burnings of police stations. “This is my problem with the mainstream western so-called ‘left’ these days. These white anarcho-kids can get masses of people out in the […]
A friend writes: “I don’t think I’ve experienced anything as mean spirited and WWE level moronic as our current Manichean political milieu. Herd/tribal mentality not only really does function as an equivalent to an actual brain lobotomy, but it also seems to bring out (with the help of […]

Marianne was my second favorite candidate in the primaries, after Tulsi. Liberal and left opinion regards Trump as an incipient fascist. Conservative and right-wing opinion regards Trump as an incipient Bolshevik. Both are focused on Biden’s obvious senility. Though I think all of these are missing some of […]
It’s Going Down. Correction: On the opening to this podcast, it states that Trump said “stand down and stand by,” which in reality Trump stated “stand back and stand by.” The first debate between the ruling corporate parties has now come and gone, with even the mainstream media […]
If there is one truism about Americans, it is that Americans do everything half-assed. American fascists are half-assed fascists. American communists are half-assed communists. American religious fundamentalists are half-assed fundamentalists. American anarchists are half-assed anarchists. Groups like Antifa or BLM are rookie leaguers compared to insurrectionary groups in […]
This is the worst nightmare of the ruling class, the far-left, and the far-right combined, which makes it a very good thing. By Jessica Chasmar Washington Times Local leaders of the right-wing group Proud Boys in Salt Lake City held a joint news conference with a local Black […]
If “winning” the freakshow of a debate means motivating more people to vote for you, then Biden probably “won.” “I’m a senile old fool but at least I’m not…him.”
Trump’s WWE experience definitely shows. And Biden is rapidly forgetting how to talk. Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti discuss the presidential debate as well as the impact it may have had, if any, on potential voters.
This article amounts to a plan to create a one-party state. Not that I would miss the Republicans if they were permanently marginalized, but shutting the right-wing out of the electoral process altogether is likely to generate some other less than pleasant consequences. By Ian Millhise Vox The […]
The moment of the moron has arrived. Chris Wallace sounds like a school teacher calling down a couple of bratty kids. “As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain […]

The discussion of Trump’s taxes in this is pretty funny. Apparently, the prez is just another plutocratic greedhead. Who would’ve guessed? Krystal and Saager are pretty good on economics even if their preferred solutions suck. Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti discuss the New York Times’ bombshell report that […]
By Troy Southgate The majority of people on the Right and Left of the political spectrum have an equally distorted idea of what is actually taking place in the world. Although this applies to most countries, allow me to use the example of Portugal. In the mid-1970s the […]
Of all the political conflicts I have ever studied, anywhere in the world, or from any time in history, there are none which I have found to be nearly as ridiculous as the American “culture wars.” Culture warriors, whether red, blue, white, black, pink, green, or purple, generally […]
