Is This The Next Shock Socialist Victory?

Episode 290 with Oliver Larkin

It’s exciting and refreshing to hear from Oliver Larkin, who’s built an incredible, inspiring campaign to rep FL-25 in Congress. Oliver is a democratic socialist (active DSA member) and labor organizer who’s willing to call Trump a pedophile on Fox News, and who’s dedicated to the fight for the well-being of his constituents in defiance of corporate wealth and the alliance of the most evil companies and donors supporting his opponent.

OpenAI, Palantir, and a shell group from Wall Street banks (plus, surprise, AIPAC) are all trying to funnel money in to oppose Oliver to make sure working people don’t have a champion in office. But grassroots funding will make a difference, so we have a special link for you to follow as KK&F listeners to contribute to Oliver’s campaign. right here.

Watch our entire interview with Oliver below:

One of the first things we talk to Oliver about is the major moment he had on Fox News, calling Trump a pedo as the host nervously tried to redirect the conversation. While he was given questions fearmongering about crimes caused by immigrants — with the host going so far as to trot out the classic, despicable conservative line about immigrants raping women and children — Oliver’s response was to debunk that myth: the vast majority of people immigrating to this country have not committed a single crime, and this argument is just used to demonize and to endanger the lives of people seeking refuge or a new life in this country. But Oliver took it further, and pointed out that the man in the country’s highest office has actually made sure that the justice system doesn’t pursue justice for victims of child sex abuse — because Trump is himself implicated in the Epstein cabal. Republicans profess to own the issue of protecting children, but their leader is the real person children need protecting from. It says a lot about Oliver’s lack of obligation to follow a party line and keep the peace with Trump (as well as about his courage, of course) that he was willing to bring this up before countless households tuning into Fox News.

An absolute cornerstone of Oliver’s platform is Medicare for All. Of course, on KK&F, that’s a policy we regularly foreground as among the most important (if not THE most important) measures the American government must pass to keep its people alive and prevent them from drowning in debt. And as Abdul El-Sayed’s primary victory in Michigan reminds us, voters are having the exact opposite reaction to M4A than establishment Democrats and the entire right wing want them to: they’re voting in its champions because they recognize its central importance to the well-being of every resident of this country. But Oliver is also calling for other key measures to improve the quality of life for his constituents, including a $25 an hour minimum wage with no loopholes, universal childcare, plus paid family and medical leave. And when his opponents on both sides of the aisle hand-wring about “pie in the sky” ideas from out-of-touch lefties, remember that these policies are winning!!! The data is on our side. Turns out people don’t want to struggle to have children and raise a family, get medical care, and make a living. Nor should they have to, and Oliver makes that very clear in our discussion of his campaign.

Thanks for tuning in, and thanks for subscribing. This conversation will be available tomorrow as a podcast on major streaming platforms.
