TELL CONGRESS: ICE prisons are filled with abuse and suffering. Rapid expansion of ICE’s deportation dragnet has led to makeshift detention camps like Alligator Alcatraz and put a spotlight on the worsening conditions at existing prisons. Sign the petition: Investigate and shut down inhumane ICE detention centers!
The humanitarian situation in ICE prisons is dire.
Physical and sexual abuse, medical neglect, and clandestine deportations are rampant at the largest ICE detention center in the country, Camp East Montana in Texas.1,2 Human Rights Watch said that conditions in three Florida detention facilities that hold thousands of people “flagrantly violate international human rights standards.”3 Detentions surged at the largest ICE prison in the northeast, Moshannon Valley Processing Center, which has a history of “cruel” treatment.4 Several people held at these facilities have died in the last year.
Our lawmakers are complicit in this horrific immigrant detention system until Congress ends these widespread human rights violations. The House and Senate must take immediate action.
Sign the petition: Investigate and shut down abusive ICE prisons!
Lawmakers have called Florida’s most infamous ICE prison, Alligator Alcatraz, an internment camp.5 The makeshift detention center has become a symbol of ICE’s abuses and a sign of what’s to come if DHS continues expanding its prisons.
ICE currently holds 70,000 people in detention — a record number. And DHS plans to spend $38 billion to turn warehouses into new mega-prisons to imprison tens of thousands more people.6
Congress must put an end to the horrors of ICE facilities.
Sign the petition: Investigate ICE prisons now and shut down ICE’s torture prisons.
Thanks for taking action,
