Bill Clinton Testifies He ‘Had No Idea’ About Jeffrey Epstein’s Crimes

Former president faces House Oversight questioning as new files, flight logs, and witness claims resurface in widening Epstein probe.

Former President Bill Clinton told federal lawmakers on Thursday that he had no knowledge of the crimes committed by disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, as questions continue to swirl about his past association with the convicted sex trafficker.

Appearing before the House Oversight Committee in Chappaqua, New York, Clinton insisted that his interactions with Epstein were limited and ended years before the full scope of Epstein’s crimes became public.

“My brief acquaintance with Epstein ended years before his crimes came to light,” Clinton testified. “I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing.”

Clinton, 79, said he was answering lawmakers’ questions “to offer what little I know so that it might prevent anything like this from ever happening again.”

Flight Logs, Photos, and FBI Records

Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to procuring a minor for prostitution and was later arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. He died in a Manhattan jail while awaiting trial, with a medical examiner ruling the death a suicide.

In January, the Department of Justice released additional Epstein-related documents, including emails and photographs. Some images showed Clinton alongside Epstein. At least three photographs reportedly depicted Clinton with unidentified females.

Previously released flight logs confirmed Clinton flew on Epstein’s private jet in 2002 and 2003. Clinton has maintained that those trips were connected to work for the Clinton Foundation and that he never visited Epstein’s private island. However, records show he did visit Epstein’s New York residence, and Epstein visited the White House during Clinton’s presidency.

An FBI document cited in the broader investigation included a redacted witness claim alleging she had been invited to an event involving Clinton, though she did not attend. Law enforcement communications also referenced a victim who said she met Epstein through another victim who had traveled with both Epstein and Clinton to Africa.

Clinton dismissed the implications during his testimony.

“No matter how many photos you show me … I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong,” he said.

Hillary Clinton Deposition Raises Further Questions

Clinton’s testimony came one day after his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appeared before the same committee.

Hillary Clinton stated under oath that she had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and said she never met Epstein. She described her acquaintance with Ghislaine Maxwell as casual. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 after being convicted of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls.

Maxwell previously told Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in 2025 that she met Hillary Clinton multiple times at the Clintons’ New York home in connection with the Clinton Global Initiative. She stated that Epstein did not have a relationship with Hillary Clinton but did donate money to the initiative and spent time with Bill Clinton.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said after Hillary Clinton’s deposition that she frequently deferred to her husband when pressed on specifics.

“The number of times that she said, ‘I don’t know, you’ll have to ask my husband,’ was more than a dozen,” Comer told reporters.

Rep. Scott Perry added that certain key questions could only be answered by Bill Clinton.

Ongoing Scrutiny

Clinton has previously said through a spokesperson that he had not spoken to Epstein for “well over a decade” before Epstein’s 2019 arrest.

Still, the combination of flight logs, photographs, witness statements, and financial ties to the Clinton Global Initiative has kept public scrutiny alive.

With both Clintons now having testified, lawmakers say additional document reviews and follow-up questioning may still be ahead as Congress continues digging into one of the most explosive scandals in recent political history.
