Episode 265 with Pretty Bad Lefty
PrettyBadLefty, or Brandon, is the host of The Discourse with Brandon and a regular Majority Report contributor. We’re so excited to share our conversation with him in this week’s episode, focusing on the major stories in recent news: Trump’s involvement in the Epstein scandal and his plummeting approval ratings; the potential plan for Trump to steal the midterms; and the depravity of the ICE raids, plus the effects of that depravity in American society. Watch below:
Trump’s approval ratings are catastrophically bad, and it’s connected to what was clearly his significant presence in Epstein’s circles. Right-wingers like Alex Jones have rejected what they see as the “hoax” going around about the president, refusing to admit that Trump was a major associate of Epstein’s. But from Trump’s recent and major dip in favorability, we can see that the American public isn’t buying that. As we learn about the crimes of the most wealthy and powerful people in our society, people have responded with absolute distrust of Trump’s attempts to wipe his crimes with Epstein off the record. Trump’s administration and coalition have been massively and irreversibly fractured by the release of information about his Epstein involvement. Could his party win an election again, after this?
So much depends upon whether or not Americans will actually have legitimate elections, starting, as Trump has warned we should, at the midterms. We lay out the avenues for Trump to claim power. As per the Brennan Center, the DOJ will demand that states hand over voter files, and after analysis of the voter data, it will tell those states to remove certain people from the rolls. Some states (like Texas and Alaska) have signed the agreement, while over 25 have refused. But we’re advancing rapidly toward the loss of voting rights in the U.S., while right now some Americans have seen that their home states are willing to throw those rights away without putting up a fight.
Things look bleak in American politics right now, it’s true. We’re glad to have Brandon on the show to help us make sense of it all, and we hope you enjoy our conversation. This episode will be available tomorrow on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, and other major streaming platforms.
