Episode 257 with Ro Khanna
Our discussion in Episode 257 of KK&F is totally free for everyone. We hope you’ll watch our special conversation with Rep. Ro Khanna to understand the massive undertaking by a handful of brave politicians to bring the powerful abusers of Jeffrey Epstein’s circle to justice. Khanna, along with Rep. Massie from Kentucky, formed a bipartisan pair that forced the release of the Epstein files. Now, despite massive (and in many cases clumsy and predictably incompetent) redactions, a fuller picture of the extent of Epstein and his associates’ crimes has come to light. And it’s particularly clear that our own president, Donald Trump, is profoundly implicated here.
The Trump coalition, as Khanna points out, is in crisis. It’s unraveling under these shock waves that reveal the repeated sexual abuse (and child sex abuse) that its figurehead engaged in for years. Now Trump has plummeting approval ratings (36 percent right now, an all-time low for an incumbent term, as Gallup reports), and it’s basically impossible to think about how he’s going to win those former supporters back. After all, they’re jumping ship because they are finally confronting the true, horrifyingly ugly face of Trump’s power and his ability to conceal his abuse of that power. Khanna and Massie reached across the aisle to work together, understanding that this goes well beyond party lines and forces a moment in which everyone, regardless of party affiliation, must join together in a fight for justice against a man who has long considered his power to be unassailable.
Khanna and Massie have worked together before, on a Yemen War Powers resolution years back that meant to prevent the U.S. from funding a humanitarian crisis in Yemen. They’ve made a name for themselves as a duo willing to take on the establishments of their own parties to demand transparency on the shadowy, secretive side of Washington. Now, they’ve had to push for a discharge petition multiple times to get these files released, and it failed multiple times in Congress. Survivors themselves came to Congress to testify, willing to speak to unimaginable experiences of suffering and exploitation to prevent Epstein’s circle from getting away with decades of sex trafficking. The success of the bill to free the files is a victory that’s rattling the very structure of American government, all the way up to the top.
It’s not over. Trump and his affiliates are being protected through tampering with and extensive redaction of the files. We also talk to Khanna about next steps and the future of the fight to reveal the massive body of information that remains. All in all, this is a conversation we’re humbled and honored to bring forward as news on this case develops in real time. And we’re releasing audio of the conversation on major streaming platforms tomorrow, so feel free to keep on listening.
