AMERICANS KILLED IN SYRIA, TRUMP VOWS RETALIATION  Two U.S. Army soldiers and an American civilian interpreter were killed in Syria Dec. 13 in an ambush attack that the White House has attributed to ISIS, and President Donald Trump has promised “very serious retaliation.”  READ
BROWN SHOOTING SUSPECT DETAINED  Police took a person of interest into custody after a deadly shooting at Brown University killed two students and wounded nine, ending an overnight manhunt as officials confirmed no other suspects are being sought.  READ
ARCHDIOCESAN CHANCELLOR: TIME FOR BORDER REFORM  The chancellor of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City says the U.S. is in its strongest position in decades to overhaul its immigration system and should act now to pursue comprehensive reform. “With the border secure,” Michael Scaperlanda wrote in an essay for First Things, “the time is ripe for comprehensive immigration reform for the first time in forty years.”  READ
AT LEAST 15 KILLED IN AUSTRALIAN MASS SHOOTING  A terror attack during a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach left at least 15 people dead and 40 wounded after two gunmen opened fire on a crowd, authorities said.  READ
PENTAGON WEIGHS DISCIPLINE AGAINST DEM SENATOR  The Navy has formally submitted a report to the Pentagon outlining potential disciplinary actions against Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., a retired Navy captain, after he and five other Democratic lawmakers told troops to resist “illegal orders” from the White House. “This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens,” the six lawmakers said in the video. They later added, “You must refuse illegal orders.”  READ

CHRISTIAN EMPLOYEE WINS IN CASE AGAINST MARRIOTT  Two Marriott companies have agreed to pay out a sum of $175,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Employment Opportunity Commission after the companies revoked a Christian employee’s religious exemption from working on the Sabbath.
