Federal immigration agents have launched a brutal military invasion of Chicago, storming an apartment complex using Blackhawk helicopters, flash-bang grenades, armored combat vehicles, and more than 100 agents in full tactical gear.¹

They’re mass-arresting legal residents and U.S. citizens based on skin color, using tear gas near schools, and firing rubber bullets at journalists.^2,3,4

Trump is now sending 700 national guard troops and threatening to use the Insurrection Act to further escalate the military invasion that Trump is calling “Operation Midway Blitz.”⁵

All of this is happening in flagrant violation of the law and in defiance of local officials and the governor of Illinois.

Just days after Trump told an audience of U.S. military generals that American cities should be used as “training grounds,” the White House launched its invasion of Chicago.⁶

Rappelling onto the roof of an apartment building in the middle of the night from Black Hawk helicopters, immigration agents ransacked a Chicago apartment building last Wednesday morning, smashing down doors and breaking windows, detaining every single resident — including children being dragged out of bed — and throwing them into U-Haul vans or leaving them zip-tied on the sidewalk for hours.⁷

It’s hard to imagine a more flagrant violation of civil rights — and it will only get worse unless Congress steps in to finally investigate and halt these attacks.

We’ve mobilized tens of thousands of people to hold ICE and other federal immigration agents accountable, and we need to ramp up this effort immediately.
