Trump’s Tariffs on Trial

In a 7 to 4 ruling, a federal appeals court just struck down President Trump’s tariffs, on the grounds that he didn’t have the legal authority to impose them without Congress—although it stayed its ruling until October to allow for appeal to the Supreme Court. The court cited an amicus brief cosponsored by Independent Institute, in support of its ruling.

A few days before the ruling, our most recent Independent Outlook episode predicted this outcome, explained it, and projected how the case will land at SCOTUS. If you want to understand this latest ruling—and the upcoming deliberations of SCOTUS—take a look!
