| Dear Reader,
Over the past few weeks, incidents of violent extremism and foreign influence operations in the United States have underscored ongoing challenges to public safety and national security. In Vermont, a 21-year-old woman from Seattle faces the death penalty for the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Maland during a January 2025 traffic stop, with links to the violent “Zizians” group raising concerns about radicalized networks. In New Mexico and Florida, two teenagers were arrested for making school shooting threats, reflecting a persistent issue of youth radicalization.
Meanwhile, foreign influence operations have surfaced with alarming clarity. In Texas, an active-duty soldier was arrested for attempting to transmit classified tank information to Russia, revealing vulnerabilities in insider threats. In Massachusetts, a man associated with the anti-Zionist Direct Action Movement for Palestinian Liberation was charged with vandalism at the State House, while in California, a leader of the white supremacist Terrorgram Collective pleaded guilty to soliciting hate crimes and murder. These events highlight the urgent need for vigilant law enforcement and community reporting to counter both domestic and foreign threats.
Sincerely, |
