The Democratic Party is the largest, broadly center-left political party in the United States, comprising many different factions that don’t always agree, despite all using the label of “Democrat”. This can make it tough to understand exactly what the Democratic Party is or what it stands for, which can make American politics a little tricky to parse for people who don’t spend all day reading about these ideological and interpersonal squabbles inside the party. I want to try and make sense of the factions, personalities, and institutional forces shaping the democratic party of 2025, and I want to do that with this chart.
