Iraq was obviously based on lies, but it was in the aftermath of 9/11, and it was also 30 years since Vietnam, so a lot of people didn’t remember what a large-scale war looked like. For people to be genuinely falling for this again with everything we know now is just embarrassing. An Empire is at its most dangerous when it is dying.
