TELL CONGRESS: Trump’s plan to accept a $400 million jet from Qatar and use it as Air Force One is marked by a slew of legal liabilities, corruption, and security issues. Sen. Chris Murphy is pushing a vote THIS WEEK to block arms sales to Qatar and UAE so the Senate can have an open debate on Trump’s unconstitutional, corrupt acts. Sign the petition: Stop Trump’s corruption and block arm sales to Qatar.
Corrupt foreign dealings have always been a feature of Trump’s presidencies. His latest move to accept a $400 million “free” jet, a “palace in the sky,” from Qatar and turn it into Air Force One is no different. Trump bragged, saying he, “got a beautiful big magnificent free airplane for the United States Air Force.”1
Senator Chris Murphy is saying enough with this corruption. Murphy is forcing a vote THIS WEEK on weapons sales to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to hold an open debate in Congress on Trump’s corruption. Both foreign governments are not only trying to influence the White House, they’re providing financial backing for Trump family businesses.2
Trump’s unprecedented, unconstitutional deal with Qatar isn’t finalized,3 so there’s still time to stop it and the arms sales to governments cozying up to Trump’s businesses.
The U.S. Senate has a responsibility to end all corrupt dealings between Trump, his family, and foreign governments. Blocking arm sales to countries cozying up to Trump is a critical step towards stemming this corruption.
Sen. Murphy said, “Donald Trump is selling off America’s foreign policy and national security to the highest bidder and isn’t even bothering to cover it up.”4
Sen. Murphy’s planned vote targets UAE too because of UAE’s $2 billion investment in Trump’s cryptocurrency venture.5 Lawmakers also oppose these weapons sales because of the extensive evidence of UAE’s involvement in genocide in Sudan.6
Trump’s blatant defiance of the rule of law, again, and his entanglements with foreign governments are a threat to our democracy. The Senate needs to stop weapons sales to Qatar and UAE in response to this corruption.
Thanks for taking action,
