MOST people still assume that their respective countries are independent of one another, even if the world has long been divided into vast capitalist trading blocs that render all borders and boundaries superfluous. This illusion is rigorously maintained and reinforced by the purveyors of civic nationalism, whose interpretation of ‘citizenship’ is continually redefined in accordance with a desire to import cheap labour from abroad.
Let’s entertain the idea that, at some point in the future, your political views are considered so intensely at odds with the puppet-administration that rules over your country of birth that you are forcibly deported elsewhere. Nationality would mean very little if something like BRICS or the EU perceived you to be a threat to its financial interests.
Whilst this might seem far-fetched, try considering this hypothesis in light of a brand new directive that has just been issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The directive in question, entitled ‘DHS to Begin Screening Aliens Social Media Activity for Antisemitism,’ explains that the department will
“begin considering aliens’ antisemitic activity on social media and the physical harassment of Jewish individuals as grounds for denying immigration benefit requests. This will immediately affect aliens applying for lawful permanent resident status, foreign students and aliens affiliated with educational institutions linked to antisemitic activity. Consistent with President Trump’s executive orders on Combatting Anti-Semitism, Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism and Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats, DHS will enforce all relevant immigration laws to the maximum degree, to protect the homeland from extremists and terrorist aliens, including those who support antisemitic terrorism, violent antisemitic ideologies and antisemitic terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, or Ansar Allah aka: the Houthis.”
Now, although this may appear to relate to immigrants who have settled (or are planning to settle) in the United States, imagine if the same law was eventually applied throughout the West to the extent that so-called ‘anti-Semites’ were deported from Europe and North America. As a friend of mine joked when I discussed this possibility with him in private, “We are all Eichmann,” but whilst I found this historical comparison amusing it would not surprise me if Western natives were kidnapped and deported due to opposing Zionism and refusing to compromise with supremacist laws. The document continues:
“Under this guidance, USCIS will consider social media content that indicates an alien endorsing, espousing, promoting, or supporting antisemitic terrorism, antisemitic terrorist organizations, or other antisemitic activity as a negative factor in any USCIS discretionary analysis when adjudicating immigration benefit requests. This guidance is effective immediately.”
The great irony, of course, is that many of those on the Right agree with the expulsion of ‘aliens,’ but what if they were next on the list?
