Huge explosion as plane ‘with at least two on board’ crashes in Philadelphia leaving streets ablaze | 31 Jan 2025 | A small plane crash has left multiple people injured in Philadelphia as shocking footage shows chaotic scenes on the ground where it came down. Footage shared to social media shows the wreckage of the unknown flight near the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue around 6pm EST. CBS News is reporting that there was two people aboard the aircraft, citing police sources. It remains unclear at this time where the flight had originated from and what led to the crash. Emergency services are currently on the scene battling the flames from the collision. The aircraft appeared to hit several buildings and cars in the area leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Ukrainian MP calls for Putin’s murder at Council of Europe | 31 Jan 2025 | Ukrainian MP [Grade ‘A’ sociopath] Aleksey Goncharenko has openly called on EU lawmakers to support the idea of assassinating Russian President Vladimir Putin and of promoting it among ordinary people. On Friday, the legislator published a video on Telegram of himself making controversial statements at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). According to Goncharenko, Kiev could ramp up support for its cause in the West amid a continuing conflict with Moscow by appealing to the most basic and easily understandable urges of people. To do this, Ukraine needs to draw a clear parallel between the Russian leader’s demise and the benefits each and every EU citizen could get from it, he claimed.
Midair collision kills 67 people in the deadliest US air disaster in almost a quarter century | 30 Jan 2025 | A midair collision between an Army helicopter and a jetliner killed all 67 people aboard the two aircraft, officials said Thursday, as they scrutinized the actions of the military pilot in the country’s deadliest aviation disaster in almost a quarter century. At least 28 bodies were pulled from the icy waters of the Potomac River after the helicopter apparently flew into the path of the American Airlines regional jet late Wednesday while it was landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport, just across the river from Washington, officials said. The plane carried 60 passengers and four crew members, and three soldiers were aboard the helicopter.
Report of lack of air traffic controllers at DCA comes amid lawsuit FAA trying to fill jobs based on race | 31 Jan 2025 | A New York Times report saying the air control tower at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport has been understaffed for years came amid a lawsuit claiming the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) discriminated against air traffic controller applicants based on their race. The Times report said the tower at the airport was nearly a third below targeted staff levels, with 19 fully certified controllers as of September 2023, citing the most recent Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan, an annual report to Congress that contains target and actual staffing levels. The targets set by the F.A.A. and the controllers union call for 30.
Air traffic controller was doing the job of two people during crash, FAA says | 30 Jan 2025 | The air traffic controller working at the time of the deadly plane-helicopter crash in Washington was doing the work of two people, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Staffing in the air traffic control tower at Ronald Reagan National Airport was “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic,” the FAA found in its preliminary report, according to the New York Times. This led to the controller who was handling helicopters in the airport’s vicinity to also be the one in charge of instructing planes landing and departing the runways. The jobs are normally assigned to two people, not one.
Air traffic control tower at Reagan airport was understaffed at time of American Airlines disaster, FAA report finds as scandalous practices under Biden are revealed | 30 Jan 2025 | Air traffic control staffing at DC Airport was “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic” when an airline and an army helicopter collided. That is one of the findings of an internal preliminary Federal Aviation Administration safety report on Wednesday night’s air disaster at Regan National. Chronic understaffing at air traffic control towers is nothing new, with only 19 employed at DC in 2023, but the report found it complicated procedures that night. Sixty passengers, four crew, and three U.S. Army personnel are believed to be dead after the collision 400ft over the Potomac River. President Trump spent almost all his 11am press conference blaming supposed DEI programs at the FAA for the crash. “The FAA is actively recruiting workers who suffer severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website,” he said.
Los Angeles fire cleanup complicated by ‘unprecedented’ number of EVs with combustible lithium-ion batteries | 30 Jan 2025 | Highly combustible lithium-ion batteries used in electric and hybrid vehicles are complicating cleanup efforts in the Los Angeles neighborhoods ravaged by wildfire damage. Phase 1 of the federal cleanup is underway, as surveyors with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) work to remove and dispose of hazardous materials, including lithium-ion batteries found in charred vehicles and decimated homes. The EPA warned that batteries should be considered “extremely dangerous,” even if they are believed to be intact, and “can spontaneously re-ignite, explode, and emit toxic gases and particulates even after the fire is out.” The Palisades and Eaton fires aftermath is estimated to require the “largest lithium-ion battery pickup, cleanup, that’s ever happened in the history of the world,” EPA incident commander Steve Calanog reportedly told local KNBC.
Karoline Leavitt announces Trump will impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China this weekend | 31 Jan 2025 | President Donald Trump will slap tariffs on neighboring Canada and Mexico tomorrow, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told reporters — with an additional tariff going into place on China. “Starting tomorrow, those tariffs will be in place,” Leavitt told reporters during her second press briefing at the White House. She called the tariffs “promises made and promises kept by the President.” She spoke hours after Trump once again said the U.S. doesn’t “need” Canadian exports like lumber or cars that U.S. companies manufacture across the border.
Trump strips millions from DEI foreign aid programs funding Irish musicals, LGBTQ programs in Serbia and more | 31 Jan 2025 | Donald Trump’s order freezing foreign aid has sealed the spigot of U.S. taxpayer dollars flowing to DEI projects abroad, saving U.S. money from being “lit on fire,” a top Republican says. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-Fla.) has revealed exclusively to DailyMail dot com some suspicious federal expenditures that the State Department approved under Joe Biden. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) programs, meant to expand diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) objectives abroad, are now effectively killed under Trump’s foreign aid freeze… Projects that push DEI, like a 70,000 grant to a group in Ireland to produce a DEI musical in 2022, will now be crushed by Trump and his Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Mast says.
Department of Veterans Affairs places 60 DEI employees on leave with salaries totaling more than $8M | 27 Jan 2025 | The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has placed nearly 60 employees on leave who focused on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and had a combined salary of more than 8 million. The VA said in a press release Monday that it completed its implementation of President Donald Trump’s executive order to end DEI in the federal government. Part of the VA’s abolishment of DEI within the agency meant placing on paid administrative leave about 60 employees who were solely focused on DEI activities. The VA said the combined salary of the employees — including base pay, locality pay and additional earnings — exceeds 8 million, with the average pay being about 136,000 per year, per employee.
Explosive moment RFK Jr. brutally attacks Bernie Sanders over his Big Pharma donors | 30 Jan 2025 | Robert F Kennedy Jr and Sen Bernie Sanders had an explosive clash over the senator’s links to Big Pharma as Trump’s health nominee came out swinging in the second day of his confirmation hearing. The spat started when RFK Jr, who has been tapped to be head of the Health and Human Services (HHS), promised he would “make America healthier than other countries in the world.” Sen Sanders questioned how RFK Jr could do so without guaranteeing free healthcare to every American, which appeared to set the nominee off. Referring to an earlier point in the hearing about corruption in the healthcare system, RFK Jr said: “By the way Bernie, the problem of corruption is not just in the federal agencies — it’s in Congress too. Almost all the members of this panel, including yourself, are accepting millions of d-llars from the pharmaceutical industry and protecting their interests.” [LOL!]
Indiana man pardoned by Trump after Jan. 6 conviction is shot dead by deputy during traffic stop | 27 Jan 2025 | An Indiana man who was pardoned by President Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot was shot dead by a deputy during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon, according to authorities. Matthew Huttle was killed in an altercation with a Jasper County sheriff’s deputy who pulled him over on Indiana State Road 14 near the Pulaski County line and attempted to arrest the 42-year-old, state police said. “An altercation took place between the suspect and the officer, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon and fatally wounding the suspect,” state police said in a news release. Huttle allegedly had a gun on him inside the car, according to authorities. [Yeah, right!]
Hakeem Jeffries pledges Democrats will ‘fight’ Trump agenda ‘in the streets’ –“Hakeem Jeffries must apologize for this disgraceful call to violence,” a senior White House official responds | 31 Jan 2025 | House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., is being criticized by Republicans after pledging Democrats would fight President Donald Trump’s agenda “in the streets.” “Right now, we’re going to keep focus on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda…” Jeffries said. “That’s not acceptable. We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets.” Republicans blasted Jeffries for his choice of words, accusing him of inflaming political tensions in an already-tense political climate. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., immediately demanded that Jeffries apologize.
ICE Arrests Salvadoran Illegal in Sanctuary City of Boston After Being Released Despite Rape Charge, Deportation Order | 31 Jan 2025 | A Salvadoran national who was charged with rape then released despite being under deportation orders was arrested by federal authorities in the sanctuary state of Massachusetts. On Thursday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the apprehension of 34-year-old Jose Garcia-Salmeron in Boston, a sanctuary city for criminal illegal aliens… In November of 2007, a DOJ judge ordered Garcia-Salmeron removed from U.S., but he apparently never left. In July of 2024, the Salvadoran was arrested by the Revere Police Department and charged with rape in Chelsea District Court. ICE issued a detainer against Garcia-Salmeron, but the court ignored the request and ordered him released on July 26, 2024. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston caught up with Garcia-Salmeron and took him into custody on Jan. 22. [Thank you, ICE!]
National manhunt underway for ‘armed and dangerous’ woman tied to shooting death of Border Patrol agent David Maland in Vt. | 30 Jan 2025 | The feds have launched a nationwide manhunt for a 32-year-old woman tied to the shooting death of a US Border Patrol agent in Vermont last week — and is linked to murders in California and Pennsylvania. Michelle Zajko, who is described as “armed and dangerous” by federal authorities, is believed to have supplied the guns that killed border agent David Maland, 44, during a Jan. 20 traffic stop near the Canadian border, according to a report by the Times Union. Two guns recovered at the scene of Maland’s death — .40-caliber and .380-caliber semiautomatic handguns — were purchased by Zajko at a Mount Tabor gun shop in February and allegedly used by accused killer Teresa Youngblut to gun down Maland, the outlet said.
