JOSEPH de Maistre (1753-1821) is noted for having said that “every nation gets the government it deserves.” There is clearly some truth in this assertion, particularly if one is referring to the more apathetic members of society and their increasing unwillingness to take responsibility for their own lives.
Whilst it is also true that so-called ‘representative democracy’ is designed to allow newly elected politicians to dismiss the wishes of their voters for the next four or five years, in many ways it is a direct consequence of people being content to place all power and authority in the hands of others. Not because they trust their leaders, necessarily, but due to a fundamental laziness and indifference. Politicians are one thing, but what of the educational sphere?
Over the last five years the same trend has been happening with regard to teachers. Selfish parents are so caught up in their own lives and loves that when their children start attending school they are completely unable to use the toilet. A quarter of youngsters who begin school in the British Isles are already extremely obese and incapable of running or jumping, and many others are dirty and unhygienic. Furthermore, a large number can barely communicate on account of having been ignored.
As a result of this scandalous neglect, which in itself is a thoroughly modern phenomenon connected with the collapse of the family, mass media indoctrination, or alcoholism and drug abuse, teachers are now expected to operate as social workers and even to visit children’s homes. Whilst it is always important to identify those children who may be at risk, the abrogation of parental responsibility inevitably leads to a further strengthening of the State.
These people, it must be said, are not our people and they deserve everything they get. As far as those of us who are awake are concerned, we need to make sure that we do not suffer the consequences of their stupidity. With so many innocent children being dragged into this same cycle of chaos and degeneration, setting up revolutionary alternatives that exist outside the control of the authorities has become more urgent than ever.
