Company scores ‘irregular’ R122m health department contract

The Department of Health irregularly appointed Brainwave Projects SA on a multimillion-rand contract for the provision of satellite internet connectivity at health facilities, the Auditor-General has declared.

🇺🇸🗳️ A record voter turnout was registered for Georgia’s early voting. More than 250,000 ballots were cast on the first day, more than twice that of 2020. Donald Trump showed enthusiasm for the early vote, saying that they were “coming in at a nice level for us”.
🫏🐘 The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll has Kamala Harris in a marginal 3%-point lead. The 45%-42% did not show much change, but did indicate a potential surge in Democrat enthusiasm for this year’s elections compared to 2020.
🇺🇸🇮🇱 The US has instructed Israel that it would need to take concrete steps in improving the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza or face restrictions to its military aid. The warning was made by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin. Israel has 30 days to comply.
🇦🇺☢️ In a sign of the world to come, Australia is investing billions of dollars in a plan to build a shipyard to house and main a nuclear-powered submarine fleet. It is buying up to five AUKUS nuclear submarines, a joint project between Australia, Britain and the US. The emus remain a problem, however.
