How Long Can the Eric Adams Machine Last?

It was difficult to write — and difficult to edit — a story about Eric Adams over the past ten days. We would have a perfectly good sentence about a City Hall official who was sticking by the mayor and then all of a sudden we wouldn’t, because the official had resigned. The Feds kept raiding homes and confiscating phones; it was nearly impossible to keep pace. But Andrew Rice has done just that in this week’s cover story, capturing the madness surrounding Adams’s indictment and, after talking to the players involved who know best, pointing clearly to what comes next for the mayor and for the city.
