Ex-Cape Town mayco member Malusi Booi arrested in ‘major probe’

Malusi Booi, the Cape Town mayoral committee member fired in 2023, has been arrested in what appears to be a major construction tender investigation linked to 28s gang suspicions. In that year, allegations surfaced that Booi accepted cash gratifications from underworld figures.

🇺🇸🥥🌴🍊 The first and likely only presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump went about as expected. Harris appeared focused on speaking to the voters, while Trump, well, settled into the usual batch of disinformation, bombastic comments and oddities.

Quote of the night from Trump: “In Springfield [Ohio], they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating – they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.” (Untrue. Nobody is eating anyone’s pets – Ed).

🇦🇺🛡️ Anti-war protesters clashed with Australian police outside a defence exhibition in Melbourne on Wednesday. Tear gas and rubber bullets were used against the crowd, many who were chanting pro-Palestinian slogans.
⚓🇭🇺 Wrecks of Nazi warships have been uncovered in the Danube river. A persistent heatwave reduced the river’s level to a 1.5m low mark. The ships were scuttled by Nazi Germany during its retreat from the Soviet Union during World War 2.
🥊🇮🇪 Dana White has confirmed that Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon in “early 2025”. McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2021.
